Nestled down a side street in Sinjang-dong, closest to Songtan Station, and a short walk from the front gate of Osan Air Base, Island Bites in Pyeongtaek serves a vibrant fusion of African, Creole and Cajun cuisine. Each bite is a celebration of the flavors of the Caribbean, with bold spices and tropical ingredients all coming together using a diverse range of culinary techniques.
Island Bites’ menu is a delightful celebration of the vibrant and irresistible cuisine found on the sun-soaked islands of the Caribbean. The menu offers a diverse range of items including Jamaican-style Jerk Chicken, flavorful curries, unique house specialties and homemade roti. From the warm ambiance to the welcoming staff, the moment you step through the door sets the stage for an exceptional dining experience.
One of the highlights of Caribbean cuisine and the signature at Island Bites is the Jerk Chicken —renowned for its explosive blend of flavors which combine aromatic spices with a distinctive sweet heat. Island Bites serves your choice of Jerk Chicken, Jerk Chicken Wings, or Jerk Shrimp, each accompanied by steamed rice and fruit. Their take on the Jamaican delicacy features a house blend of spices with the chicken slow-cooked over pimento wood and charcoal, resulting in a smoky and tender delight that leaves the taste buds tingling with a perfect balance of sweet, spicy and savory notes. It keeps us going back for more, year after year.
The curry is another highlight of the menu. Island Bites serves your choice of Curried Goat, Chicken and Shrimp. Their signature curry, the Curried Goat, is slow-cooked in a fragrant blend of spices, including turmeric, cumin, coriander and Scotch bonnet peppers. The goat meat is incredibly tender and absorbs the infusion of curry swimmingly, with a savory and subtle spice. The Curried Goat is served with a generous portion of rice and beans and stands as a flavorful embodiment of the Caribbean’s vibrant food landscape.
Island Bites also serves a lineup of house specialties popular throughout the region. This includes treats like the slowly braised Oxtail and regional seafood favorites like Red Snapper Escovitch and Salmon A La Creole. They even offer West African favorite, Jollof Rice, with a vegan option to boot! The desserts are not to be missed — the Rum Cake, a traditional Caribbean dessert, is a real treat. Pro tip, order a couple of Beignets for takeaway… you’ll thank me later.
If you’re in Pyeongtaek, you can skip the queue, pay online and place pickup or delivery orders at Island Bites using the Shuttle app or shuttledelivery.co.kr.
