Wrtn Technologies, a local AI-based portal service provider, recorded over 1 million monthly active users (MAU), proving its growing prowess in the domestic generative AI market, the startup said Thursday.

The 1 million MAU nearly doubles the 500,000 to 600,000 MAU that the company recorded in the third quarter of this year. To accelerate its growth, Wrtn plans to offer OpenAI’s latest language model, GPT-4 Turbo, for free immediately after it is released.

“We have already completed all preparations for the GPT-4 Turbo service. Once OpenAI launches the model, we will offer it to all users free of charge and unlimitedly,” Lee Se-young, CEO of Wrtn Technologies, said.

Wrtn attributed the surge in its MAU to its various user-friendly services. As part of its service, users can enjoy psychological tests, music playlists and fortune-telling. They can also receive personalized content such as daily finance news and a keyword of the day.

Wrtn has surpassed 1.5 million cumulative subscribers in just 10 months since its official launch in January. It has also raised 1.5 billion won ($11.4 million) in Series A funding from investors such as venture capital Capstone Partners.

“We will continue to deliver the latest and best-performing language models to expand the number of generative AI users and drive market growth,” the CEO said.
